Amazing Things Made In South Carolina And The Companies That Make Them!
It’s always a welcome sight when you pick something up and see that it was made in the USA, but it’s even more special when you discover that it was made right here in the grand state of South Carolina.
This region is home to many preservationists, artists, artisans, and craftsmen that seek to share their craft and hard work for the entire world to enjoy. Everyone brings their own expertise to the table and together, they add to the diversity, pride, and distinction of the Palmetto State.
With that said, we’d like to share ten South Carolina companies and the outstanding products they offer that both inspire us and make us proud to call this beautiful place home

Landrum Tables
First on our list is Charleston’s own Landrum Tables. This company doesn’t make a simple table like one you could find at a big box store or Ikea. No, the furniture here is handcrafted with the attention it deserves….but that’s not the only reason that their furniture is so special.
Proud owner and local resident, Capers Landrum Cauthen, couldn’t stand the sight of Charleston’s historic buildings being torn down (along with all of its rich history)and simply thrown away. Rather than let that happen, he decided to reclaim and repurpose the wood that would otherwise deteriorate in a landfill.
Thanks to his dedication and love for his city, you can now continue the legacy of Charleston’s rich history through his unique and locally sourced tables.
Landrum Tables features four, beautiful dining tables that are all crafted by hand. Not only does Charleston’s rich history get preserved and continued in an elegant fashion, but you can personalize their tables to match your own lifestyle and decor.
“This company doesn’t make a simple table like one you could find at a big box store or Ikea.”
Each dining table can be customized to the wood choice of your liking, your desired color, and different sizes to fit your own space. Additionally, Landrum Tables also offers the options to outfit their dining table collection for outdoor use by using reclaimed, pressure-treated wood or even to incorporate your own sentimental wood choice in the design.
Whether you choose to use your sentimental wood for a customized table or purchase one of their signature designs, you can look forward to making their tables a centerpiece in your home and allow Charleston’s historic legacy to live on.

SouthernWood Paddle Company
Sometimes we don’t know where life will take us, but more often than not, it leads us down a path of personal gratification and fulfillment. This couldn’t be truer for Larry McIntyre, owner of Southernwood Paddle Company in South Carolina’s Lowcountry region.
Growing up, Larry always had love for the great outdoors and even went on to earn the honorable Eagle Scout Award. Fast forward to his adult life, Larry didn’t feel in line with the corporate grind so he took a risk, dove into the deep end, and experimented with woodworking. Today, Larry has found his own personal fulfillment by handcrafting canoe paddles for the environmentally-conscious outdoor enthusiast.
South Carolina is home to more than 2,800 miles of coastal shorelines, beautiful rivers, and no shortage of inland lakes. If you’re the type of person who makes an effort to get out on the water as much as you can, then do it in style and peace of mind with Southernwood Paddle Company’s cypress paddles.
“Today, Larry has found his own personal fulfillment by handcrafting canoe paddles for the environmentally-conscious outdoor enthusiast.”
These aren’t any ordinary cypress paddles! The cypress that Larry uses is “sinker cypress” meaning that it was salvaged from old harvests back during the mid to late 1800s! In order to minimize their environmental impact, Southernwood Paddle Company pledges that “a tree will never be cut down for the sole purpose of creating a Southernwood paddle.”
Thanks to Larry, sinker cypress that was once thought to be abandoned has now found a new purpose in the form of handcrafted paddles for lovers of the great outdoors

Water Oak Forge
Water Oak Forge was started in 2013 when owner and veteran, Jahred Gamez, was challenged by his friend to make his own knife. What started off as a playful banter quickly piqued Jahred’s interest, so he set out on this endeavor.
Two weeks later, Jahred finished two simple knives. Although they weren’t pretty by his current standards, he was hooked! He immediately desired to learn more about this craft. Today, Jahred has moved from his humble beginnings in a garage to a full fledged shop that he and some friends built right in his backyard. Just like with his first task of knife making, Jahred wasn’t necessarily skilled at the task of carpentry.
However, with his determined attitude at the core of his demeanor, he built his own shop from the ground up. Today, Jahred continues his love for blacksmithing through teaching the ways of the trade and by challenging himself with every project.
“What started off as a playful banter quickly piqued Jahred’s interest, so he set out on this endeavor.”
Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Jahred now handcrafts blacksmithing tools, everyday carry items, and outdoor objects. The item that we’d like to highlight today is his very own Blacksmith Rounding Hammer. Featuring hardened and tempered 1045 steel with a custom shaped American Hickory handle, this rounding hammer is a blacksmith’s best friend.
With a rounded face for shaping metal, a flat face for planishing, and a generous weight of 2.5 pounds, this hammer feels great in the hand and can pound away projects in no time. Jahred hand forges each item with determination, inspiring his fellow craftsmen to follow suit in their own endeavors through the use of his own rounding hammer.

Island Inspired Board Company
Island Inspired Board Company has a simple philosophy: Paddle. Surf. Inspire. Todd Sutz, owner, world class shaper, and surfing enthusiast, aims to inspire not just the locals on the boardwalks of Myrtle Beach, but every outdoor enthusiast who shares the same love for open waters.
Todd’s life in Oahu allowed him to fall in love with the surfing scene and learn from the community’s greatest surfers so he could craft excellent boards of his own. There, he was taught to value the craftsmanship, artistry, and energy spent shaping every board.
He believes that “the energy that goes into the making of our boards flows through to the life of the people who ride them,” and we couldn’t agree more. Today, Todd finds immense joy by helping others fall in love with the world of water riding thanks to his community outreach and world class boards.
“He believes that “the energy that goes into the making of our boards flows through to the life of the people who ride them,” and we couldn’t agree more.”
The Island Inspired Board Company understands that surfing can be intimidating to some, so they also concentrate on paddle board crafting. Stand up paddleboarding has recently seen a rise in popularity because it’s a fun way to exercise, great for the whole family, and it allows you to enjoy any open body of water. Unlike surfing, stand up paddleboarding doesn’t require any waves since you use a paddle to propel you around.
Island Inspired Board Company features their own Touring Model for easy paddleboarding and unique, custom built paddle boards so you can ride the water with your own personal flair and style. Each personalized paddle board can be built to your desired size, range of ability, volume, and includes custom artwork. Whatever you choose, you can look forward to a great time shared with your loved ones on South Carolina’s gorgeous waterfronts.

Willis Wood Design
Lloyd and Windy Willis are the tag-team duo and masterminds of Willis Wood Design. Originally, they became inspired to start their shop in Greenwood after years of experience with DIY home improvement projects.
After years of doing so, they decided to try their hand at designing and building nautical-inspired home accents thanks to their roots in North Carolina and love of the coast. But that’s not all — like many other like minded and environmentally conscious people on our list, the Willis team also uses reclaimed materials as part of their brand’s signature.
Willis Wood Design invites you to decorate your home with the Carolina’s key coastal elements. Their products are available at local stores such as The Bluffton General Store or through Etsy, where you can purchase all of their goods online to ship to your home.
“Willis Wood Design invites you to decorate your home with the Carolina’s key coastal elements.”
Lloyd and Windy craft a number of items ranging from accent shelves and sunglass racks to their specialty item, the boat cleat coat rack. As mentioned before, the Willis team uses reclaimed materials in the form of weathered wood and galvanized cleats.
Since 2015, they’ve made around 1,000 of these racks in many different colors and styles in their own garage workshop. Each coat rack is built to last and every detail is put on full display, making their boat cleat coat racks among the best on the market. With so many different options to choose from, you can feel the spirit of the Willis Wood Design company’s beach town beginnings and coastal attitude in every rack.
